On March 27, 2025, Mount Olive Lutheran School hosted its annual Big Horn Invitational Speech Meet with Martin Luther Grammar School from Sheridan, Wyoming. After an opening Matins service, 22 students from the two schools competed in the Lower Grammar, Upper Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric divisions. Recitations included Psalm 1, the Nicene Creed in both English and Latin, the Annunciation and Visitation as recorded in Luke 1:26-56, the Te Deum in Latin, and St. Paul’s speech to the Athenians as recorded in Acts 17:22-31. The students worked hard to memorize and polish their pieces and remarked how inspiring they found the high-level competition with like-hearted students. Several already look forward to next year. As Pastor McCall said in his closing remarks, it is always worthwhile to write on our hearts the truths of the Christian faith. No time spent in such pursuits is ever wasted! – Miss Rodriguez
